Peace Wake Up: An Apology to Our Young Lesbians

Many are concerned with the young generation and how they are upholding who we are and what we stand for. How can we point the finger at them when they are a reflection of us?
t is times like these that makes me wonder "Can't we all just get
along??"
There are so many issues, struggles, and problems that we as a lesbian
community face with society as a whole. However, how can we begin to
fight the powers that be, if we are not right at home? Many are
concerned with the young generation and how they are upholding who we
are and what we stand for. How can we point the finger at them when
they are a reflection of us? How many of us that have the power to
empower and are really using it for just that.... empowering. It seems that the
word "power" has been equated with status , money, and greed. How can we say that we stand for unity when we are so divided? How can we be
leaders when our heads are so high that you can't even see that there are
young people looking up to us? We can't even say hello non the less
give them a smile. We can't even provide them with a positive environment without gossip and drama waiting in the wings! They give us hope and we give them fairy tales. Our
attitudes are a whole different story all together. The word 'humble" has dissolved into thin air. Of course, we are the shit and nobody can tell us other wise. They continue to go ignored. We are acting like we are in preschool throwing sand in each other's faces when we should be the nurturers. What they see is us passing judgment on each other, us back stabbing each other, us not caring for each other, not giving to each other, not supporting each other and definitely not loving each other. There is always a sense of the next person out to get us. No trust, no honesty, no comradery!!!
Have we succumbed to the world of fakery? Are we "Hollywood" when we haven't even made the billboards yet? What is even the epitome of it all is that it is predominately in the minority lesbian community.

So I challenge the leaders, the activists, the promoters, perfomers, entertainers, and business owners to take a stand and not be better than the next woman, but to be better than yourself. Lead by example with leadership development and conflict resolution at the forefront. To enlighten the young women, to provide and embrace our talents, skills, and knowledge in each other and use it for what our purpose is... to EMPOWER!!! Life is to short for the negative and unnecessary BS. If we don't stand for something, we will fall for anything!

For those of you that this does not apply to, please continue to build the rite of passage for our young womankind. We apologize for our selfishness and will strive to join forces with you soon. Continue to build the bridge and make Herstory.

To our young lesbians, Our future leaders, please accept our sincere and deepest apologies. We ask that you be patient as we heal our wounds. Please blame our minds and not our hearts!!!
