You were born and raised in Manila. How old were you when you came to the U.S.?
I was about 18 years old.

What is your ethnicity?
My mom is Filipino and my dad is Caucasian however his mom is Italian.

What were some of your challenges growing up being multi-racial?

Growing up in Manila, Philippines, some of the conservatives had an attitude like I am not full Filipino so I am not one of them. Majority of the people are kind –hearted and very accepting. They actually think I am pretty cool. They embrace me and who I am. I look a little different because I am taller than most of the girls in the Philippines. Everything was taught in English in school except for one course that was called Filipino which was taught in Tagalong. They embrace American. They are very westernized.

When did you start your modeling career? How did you get started?

I was actually 16 going on 17 years old. Well I got in trouble with my parents so they took part of my allowance away. My friend told me about this modeling agency and how they were looking for tall girls. I signed up and I started getting contracts on my own. It was actually my mom who took part of my allowance away.

So your mom was very strict? Can you talk a little bit abut that?

She always told me it was a tough world out there. She wanted me to know growing up that I wasn’t this little princess and everything would be all colorful. She exposed me to the real world. It is tough out there. She toughened me up and taught me not to trust everybody right away. She would tell me the truth like it is and not shelter me. She was realistic. She wanted me to know that I was a U.S. citizen and to eventually end up in the United States and living on my own.

Tell me about your web series?

Right now, I am focusing on films. I am also producing a web TV series called “Beverly Hills Fashion and Crimes” It is a detective show that has action in it. It also has fashion infused in the show. There are a lot of detective cop shows out there so I wanted this one to be a little bit different and a little more sexier. I wanted it to be more edgier. Being that I have a background in fashion and modeling, it just works out perfect. It will be premiering in April.

What is the name of the website where we can catch Beverly Hills Fashion and Crimes?

It will be on Cineplexstudios.com.

I have seen you on some runways, How is that experience for you?

I think it is pretty cool that I found myself back to doing some of the same things. I love doing it. I am also designing my own line of dresses. I am not 100% sure of the name but for right now it will be called “The Donnatella Couture.” It is all sketched out. I just have to put everything together. The problem that I have is that I have so many other things going on right now. Actually, the whole line will be featured in the show. I love modeling. It was my way of finding my way back to the entertainment business.

How did you step into acting?

Once I started back modeling and got me face out there my network grew. I got to expand. When people see you and like you, you get a lot of offers. That is what happened in my case. I have always been interested in acting. I am a person who has many different talents. For example dancing and modeling. I think acting brings it to full circle. It is a matter of being focused, hard work and being disciplined about the business (In which I am). It is so exciting. I have a couple of films coming up next year.

Can you tell us about your upcoming films or is it on the “hush-hush”?

I will be in the movie “Chester” and “The Undesirables” to be released in 2011 and 2012. I am not allowed to discuss the other ones.

Are you working on any other projects right now?

Yes, I have a fashion show coming up on December 4th with Cher Rue. It is a Christmas charity event. Parris Harris is the coordinator and I have done work with him in the past. I am doing some work with some people from the East Coast. There is a psychic, Karen Reeves and we will be doing a reading at the Playboy mansion with some of the playmates on November 29th. There is also an event on November 30th with Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna. Their manager’s name is Scott Polluck who is from the East Coast, and he will be getting me on some projects in New York in the spring. I also will be putting a fashion show together for my line, Donnatella Couture. This is all in addition to my nursing. I work 12 hour shifts, 3 days a week.

How long have you been a nurse? What inspired you to get into nursing?

I have been a R.N. nurse for 8 years. Nursing is my first passion. I love helping people. I do a lot of educating. I educate my patients on weight management, weight lose, hypertension, diabetes and other critical health issues. I am a patient advocate. That’s why in being in the entertainment industry, I love participating in benefits that brings awareness such as breast cancer or bone marrow. You have to have a certain type of personality to be in nursing. You have to love people and be patient. I love the duality.

Tell us more about the double life.

It’s Hollywood! It is for show. It is the glitz and glam. I never let it affect me. You hear about people being divas and turning into something else. But what is cool about the duality is that I can always go back to my nursing. It keeps me grounded. You would see me in my geeky glasses, my ponytail and big scrubs. I deal with real people with real problems and real life issues. The people that I work with are very supporting. When I am home alone, I am just quiet. When I am on the red carpet, I put on my persona, you know my character. I am in Hollywood, so I am a performer and an entertainer. When I go back to my nursing, I am a patient advocate. It is pretty cool to do both. One side allows me to express myself and be creative and the other side keeps me real.

How do you find “me” time? Do you meditate?

I try to find time to meditate. I need to do it more often. But it has been really busy. So, I find time in the shower or while I am driving alone.

Do you have a message for young women who would like to step into the entertainment industry?

My message is to be yourself. Don’t be afraid to explore your creative side. It is a tough world out there so be realistic. Know your strengths and weaknesses. Always have a plan A, B, and C. Don’t just go out to Hollywood and know that you are going to be a star. You have to have an education. You have to be able to feed yourself. That is what I did. People ask me why did I start later instead of earlier in Hollywood. I wanted to have a solid background. If this all ended tomorrow, I still have my career. I will never be out of money. Just have a plan. It is important to have a plan and create it to your needs. Not just to talk about but to live it, to do it, to act on it and to keep things real. I have fears like everyone else. The difference is I like to push it. I continue to stretch my boundaries and self limitations. Always believe in yourself.

I am pretty sure a lot of fans would want to know this, Are you married? If not are you dating?

I am not married and I am not dating.

What are the qualities that you look for in a mate?

A lot of my friends look for buff guys, you know the hotties. I am a little bit different. I am attracted to brains of a man. What turns me on is a man that is a smart and a man with a plan. I am not saying that being buff or attractive is a no no. I like a man that is mature and is stable. I love someone with a sense of humor who is passionate about life, who has a word of honor and true to themselves. I like a man who can actually recognize me as their counterpart and respects me as a woman.
