Alliance for Women in Media Foundation Expands 2013 Gracie Awards 
to Two Coasts

Prestigious Gracies to be Awarded in Los Angeles and New York
The Alliance for Women in Media (AWM) Foundation is pleased to announce that for the first time, the Gracie Awards will take place in both California and New York in 2013. The Gracies recognize exemplary programming created for women, by women and about women in all facets of media, including radio, television, cable and new media.  The Gracies Gala, which honors national winners, will return to the Beverly Hilton Hotel on May 21, 2013. The recipients of the Gracie Awards for excellence in local, online, public and student markets will be honored on June 26, 2013, at the Hilton New York.

“We are thrilled that The Gracies has become such an important industry event that this year we will celebrate the best media for, by and about women on both coasts,” said AWMF President, Erin M. Fuller.  “We are excited to return to Los Angeles, and by expanding our signature event to New York City, which served as The Gracies’ home for many years, we will better celebrate our award recipients.”

The Gracies are presented by the Alliance for Women in Media Foundation, the philanthropic arm of AWM that supports educational programs, charitable activities, public service campaigns and scholarships to benefit the public, the electronic media and allied fields.  The Gracies, established in 1975, honors programming and individuals of the highest caliber in all facets of radio, television, cable and digital media, including news, drama, comedy, commercials, public service, documentary and sports.

Previous winners at The Gracies include: Christiane Amanpour, Dr. Maya Angelou, Katie Couric, Giada de Laurentiis, Linda Ellerbee, Tina Fey, Savannah Guthrie, Chelsea Handler, Angie Harmon, Florence Henderson, Gayle King, Susan Lucci, Andrea Mitchell, Soledad O’Brien, Suze Orman, Amy Poehler, Rachael Ray, Susan Stamberg, Hannah Storm, Wanda Sykes, Barbara Walters, to name only a few.

There are so many battles being fought in our society for righteousness. It is extremely saddening when you look into the core of these battles only to find hate and fear.   Yesterday, the bodybuilding community went into an internet frenzy regarding actor, bodybuilder, author and entrepreneur Kali Muscle for being “exposed” for Gay for Pay .   Gay for pay turned into Kali being actually gay according to what I saw. I began to read messages, blog posts and watch the videos that made statements such as people calling him a “butt pirate” or saying”Kali is gay. He is a disgrace to the bodybuilding world.” Oh and let’s not forget enormous amount of “F” bombs that were stamped all across the internet. Homophobic….. Is this really how the bodybuilding community wants to be seen? Kali is a friend and colleague of mine. Poem: "The Mask I Wear"

I am in the process of this journey of fully coming into who I am inside and out! I was taking a life design course and my world renowned coach, Dr. Ray Blanchard read this poem below. I have always thought I was my true authentic self, however, after hearing this poem and then reading it several times, I have come to realize that I have neglected ME in the process of being a giver and a nurturer to others. So I am removing the mask and seeing and loving me. Growing and learning in the process. Hope you remove yours as well. I would love to see YOU!!! I am the other you. You are the other me:) THE MASK I WEAR Don't be fooled by me. Don't be fooled by the face I wear   for I wear a mask. I wear a thousand masks-      masks that I'm afraid to take off   and none of them are me. Pretending is an art that's second nature with me But don't be fooled, for God's sake, don't be fooled.
