LAAAWPPI Honors Women Who Are in Action Within Their Communities

The Los Angeles African American Women's Public Policy Institute along with Southern California Edison will be honoring leading women who are influential leaders in their industries and the communities that they serve. The Women in Action Gala Awards Reception will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel Los Angeles, Crystal Room starting at 6 PM.

The 2015 honorees are Mayor Aja Brown ( The City of Compton), Christine Simmons( President and COO for the Los Angeles Sparks),  Nike Irvin (Vice President of Programs for California Community Foundation), Marla Bleavins (Deputy Executive Director and CFO for Port of Los Angeles), and Avis Ridley-Thomas (Co Director of the Institute for Nonviolence and Days of Dialogue).
