Super Saturday College and Career Fair Hosted by WLCAC

Hello Passionate Educators, Service Providers, and Community Members,

The Watts Labor Community Action Committee Family Source Center cordially invites you to our first Super Saturday, College and Career Fair to take place on Saturday, January 30th between 10:00am-3:00pm. This event is perfect for high school seniors, job seekers, and individuals seeking guidance around college and/or careers. This day will be filled with incredible information and resources given in the following format.


Event Details!
1. College and Career Hiring Fair (Speak to employers and school recruiters directly!)
2. FAFSA and Dream Act Application Assistance (Sit and complete your entire FAFSA application one-on-one with one of our trained FAFSA specialists. Make sure to bring all tax-related forms.)
3. Meet one-on-one with a college and career adviser that can help guide you on your college or career path. (Learn about education requirements, salary, and application processes for your dream career).
4. FREE Tax Preparation: We will have our trained tax specialists on-site completing tax refunds. (Make sure to bring all tax-related forms.)
5. Community Service Available (8 hours) for High schools students. Call (323) 427-6716 to sign your students up.

Get Involved!
1. Employers are welcome to host a table and interview attendees on site.
2. Colleges, Universities, Training Organizations and so on, are welcome to host a table at our site to tell our attendees about your programs. We also encourage you to have your students volunteer with us! We are expecting a big turn out and can use your help!
3. General Public, community leaders and service providers please share this information with everyone you know and encourage them to attend.
4. We are seeking support from those that are comfortable with FAFSA applications or career advising.
The deadline to reserve your table is vastly approaching: January 27th.

There are so many battles being fought in our society for righteousness. It is extremely saddening when you look into the core of these battles only to find hate and fear.   Yesterday, the bodybuilding community went into an internet frenzy regarding actor, bodybuilder, author and entrepreneur Kali Muscle for being “exposed” for Gay for Pay .   Gay for pay turned into Kali being actually gay according to what I saw. I began to read messages, blog posts and watch the videos that made statements such as people calling him a “butt pirate” or saying”Kali is gay. He is a disgrace to the bodybuilding world.” Oh and let’s not forget enormous amount of “F” bombs that were stamped all across the internet. Homophobic….. Is this really how the bodybuilding community wants to be seen? Kali is a friend and colleague of mine. Poem: "The Mask I Wear"

I am in the process of this journey of fully coming into who I am inside and out! I was taking a life design course and my world renowned coach, Dr. Ray Blanchard read this poem below. I have always thought I was my true authentic self, however, after hearing this poem and then reading it several times, I have come to realize that I have neglected ME in the process of being a giver and a nurturer to others. So I am removing the mask and seeing and loving me. Growing and learning in the process. Hope you remove yours as well. I would love to see YOU!!! I am the other you. You are the other me:) THE MASK I WEAR Don't be fooled by me. Don't be fooled by the face I wear   for I wear a mask. I wear a thousand masks-      masks that I'm afraid to take off   and none of them are me. Pretending is an art that's second nature with me But don't be fooled, for God's sake, don't be fooled.
