Today was indeed a momentous day with millions of hearts uniting together. It marked the 20th Anniversary of the iconic Million Man March which took place again at the National Mall in the nation's capital. Men, women and children participated in this historic day of change. Minister Louis Farrakhan was again a powerful speaker and leader today as he was in 1995. People far and near were able to live stream on the official website JusticeorElse which was the resounding theme for today's march as well as the hashtag #JusticeorElse became the the #1 trending topic all over the internet.  Many people were voicing their disappointment with the lack of media coverage on a day of non-violent unity instead of the crime, violence and injustice that is displayed daily. LAAAWPPI Honors Women Who Are in Action Within Their Communities

The Los Angeles African American Women's Public Policy Institute along with Southern California Edison will be honoring leading women who are influential leaders in their industries and the communities that they serve. The Women in Action Gala Awards Reception will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel Los Angeles, Crystal Room starting at 6 PM. The 2015 honorees are Mayor Aja Brown ( The City of Compton), Christine Simmons( President and COO for the Los Angeles Sparks),  Nike Irvin (Vice President of Programs for California Community Foundation), Marla Bleavins (Deputy Executive Director and CFO for Port of Los Angeles), and Avis Ridley-Thomas (Co Director of the Institute for Nonviolence and Days of Dialogue).
